After people were asking on Twitter about some of my repair horror stories I thought I would spend a little time talking about a few stories from when I repaired consoles. I have quite a few more of these crazy horror stories for all types of systems and if people enjoy this video I may look into doing more.

  1. Our companies' policy with infested devices was no repair for pc's and laptops. If discovered we had to bag them up and have the customer pick them up as-is. If any critters were still living, we had to stop all work and bring in exterminators.

  2. Bugs in the console is gross and I would fear them reproducing laying egg's etc. in my place of business and or home. I don't like cockroaches, but I fear bedbugs far more than roaches always. Great video, I suggest a series IMO. Peace.

  3. I'm seeing this video 6 months after it came out, and it looks like you haven't done a follow up?. You should! Super interesting topic.

  4. well hey, my first board level repair was a macbook air backlight fuse
talk about micro soldering… i managed to do it after burning through 2 fuses

  5. I'll never forget the day I brought home a used ps2 slim. Played a bit, and all of a sudden I see some antenna's poking out the front vent. Then I seen they were MOVING. Face tingles for days.

  6. I don’t think spawn wave is being truthful about the ps4, you have a 1 year warranty and even if something like that happens within the first month, you can exchange it for a new one regardless (at least at target, Walmart or Best Buy or even GameStop), he must have his dates mixed up.

  7. When you mentioned white and green, my mind jumped to that horror story photo of a moldy laptop I've seen some years ago on the internet.

  8. I just bought a broken xbox one with the intention of fixing it and the seller shipped it loose and half taken apart and therefore the motherboard just bounced around and got smashed in shipping way beyond repair… No bubble wrap or anything… they just threw the separated shell and motherboard into a box and shipped it to me.

  9. Love these stories. Love it! I remember punching out the screen in my Alienware computer after a fight with my wife. She said I spent to much time with it so I punched it out to show her it didn’t mean shit. Well I told the guys at Dell that I had dropped it down a flight of stairs. Bam new screen for about 200$. So I’m sure allot of things you e heard weren’t even true!

  10. No offense, but turning a customer away because you're afraid of a few bugs and are either too lazy to deal with it, or not smart enough to know what to do about it is kinda lame. Sorry to be a dick. But that's my opinion. You could have taken the console outside and just sprayed it with roach killer. You could have just gave the outside a quick blast. And then opened it up and sprayed the actual bugs. Or you could have even left the console in the bag and sprayed the roach killer into the bag and then closed the bag up and let it sit for awhile. It wouldn't hurt the system at all as long as you're not spraying so much that it get's the system all wet. Like I said, this is all, obviously, just my opinion. But it would have prevented the company from disappointing a customer.

  11. I once had to repair a Dreamcast with a sticky power button, I opened it up and checked the motherboard and there was dead roaches all over in it, and dead larvae stuck to the board. Also since the Dreamcast has a bare CPU and GPU all of the roaches would crawl onto the chips, burn up, and stick to them. I ended up having to use an extreme adhesive remover and a paint scraper to get it off. I shake just thinking about it
